Conmebol appoints Andrés Matonte for Flamengo v Independiente Medellín in Libertadores

According to Coluna Do Fla, Conmebol has appointed Uruguayan referee Andrés Matonte for Flamengo v Independiente Medellín in the second round of the Libertadores group stage on Thursday 16 at 21:30 Brasília time.
Matonte will be assisted by compatriots Martín Soppi and Pablo Llarena, with Antonio García, also from Uruguay, on VAR duties.
Matonte has previously taken charge of two Flamengo matches. One came in the 2024 group phase, a 4-0 win over Bolívar at the Maracanã.
He also oversaw the 2023 Recopa Sudamericana second leg, when Flamengo beat Independiente del Valle 1-0 to level the aggregate. Flamengo were then beaten 5-4 on penalties and finished runners-up.
ESPN shows the match live on pay-TV, with Disney+ streaming, and Coluna do Fla TV offering real-time reactions.
