Conor Coady looks set to leave Wrexham on loan after struggling to make an impact. According to talkSPORT, he is close to joining Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season.
The former England defender joined from Leicester in August on a two-year deal, a bold statement by the newly-promoted Championship club backed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The move was later widely criticised as he quickly fell out of favour.
Coady started Wrexham's first five league matches, then was dropped after unconvincing displays. He has not played in the league since a shaky outing in the 3-1 home defeat to Queens Park Rangers in mid-September. His CV includes nearly 200 Premier League appearances and England squads at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
Charlton are 19th, three points above Blackburn in the first relegation place. Manager Nathan Jones wants added experience as they try to avoid an immediate return to League One.
Wrexham have climbed to sixth after Saturday's dramatic 3-2 comeback win at QPR. One senior figure has already departed this month, with captain James McClean returning to Derry City following a mutual termination.
Promotion heroes Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee could also leave on loan, with moves being lined up.
