Serie A outfit Como are ‘considering contacting’ Sunderland over a surprise move to lure Brian Brobbey away before the transfer window shuts.
The 24-year-old only arrived at the Stadium of Light last summer, but swiftly emerged as the Black Cats’ leading scorer during his debut season.
Regis Le Bris’ side are counting heavily on Brobbey once again this season, particularly with Europa League football also demanding their attention.
But a surprise departure could now be taking shape for the Dutchman, with Como potentially providing an unexpected route out of Sunderland before the window closes.
According to Dutch outlet Soccernews, Como are ‘considering contacting’ Sunderland regarding a potential deal for Brobbey as an alternative to Moise Kean.

Kean had been poised to join Como from Fiorentina, with the move seemingly all but settled, but the ‘transfer now appears to be in jeopardy.’
As a result, the Serie A outfit could now turn their attention towards Brobbey, although whether Sunderland would sanction his departure at this late stage of the window remains a major question.
Como have already approached the Dutchman to gauge his appetite for a switch to Italy, with Brobbey ‘willing to wait and see how concrete’ the Italian outfit’s pursuit could become in the coming hours.
The Black Cats still have three years remaining on Brobbey’s contract, putting them in a strong position to demand a substantial fee and giving them every incentive to fight to retain him at the Stadium of Light.

Fiorentina are moving to bring in Beto from Everton, suggesting they still believe Kean will join Como before the window slams shut.
Sunderland may well hope that does happen as it could remove any late interest in Brobbey and make for a more comfortable end to the window.
