Constantin Djivas, OGC Nice’s stadium announcer and club-media commentator, has become a viral figure after on-air meltdowns at Porto and Lens.
At Porto last month, he repeatedly shouted 'Mais c'est pas vrai!' after an early concession. According to L'Équipe, he did not realise the clip was blowing up, as he is not on social media.
At Lens on Sunday, a 2-0 defeat, he looped a line about a Matthieu Udol cross and an Odsonne Édouard header around 10 times live. It became a cult clip on Twitter.
He has received kind messages while Nice endure nine straight defeats, yet he rejects any suggestion he is jaded. He calls it the job of his life, a fan commentating on the club he loves.
Djivas admits he can boil over in the moment but says there is no malice. He also steers clear of naming players, mindful of a career he ended at 21 after spells at a small Geneva-area side and at Stade Nyonnais in Switzerland’s second tier.
He moved into journalism, then joined the club’s media. His first big buzz came in October 2021, a 3-2 win over OL sealed by Evann Guessand in stoppage time, after which the club gave him carte blanche. He keeps a notebook of lines, sometimes dropping one in, like Brassens when Andy Delort scored on his birthday.
