Copa de la Reina draw: Barcelona, Real Madrid learn last 16 opponents | OneFootball

Barcelona and Real Madrid have discovered their opponents for the Copa de la Reina Round of 16. The two giants are among several clubs that will enter the competition at the last 16 stage.

The top eight from the 2024/25 Liga F campaign have joined the eight teams that progressed from the third round.

Barcelona to face second-tier side

Current holders Barcelona have been handed an away game against second tier Deportivo Alavés. The Basque side saw off top flight side Levante in the previous round to set up a daunting tie against the Catalan giants. Alavés have already played one Barcelona side this season, beating the B team 3-2 in September’s league clash.

However, Barcelona will be the overwhelming favourites to advance. The Blaugrana are bidding to win the competition for the third season in a row.

Real Madrid get Espanyol away test

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will begin their cup campaign with an away match against fellow Liga F side Espanyol. Las Blancas will look to make that game the start of their journey to winning their first Copa de la Reina. In regard to their last 16 tie, Real Madrid can take confidence from the fact that they beat Espanyol 1-0 in their recent away clash at the start of November.

Europa receive Athletic draw

Elsewhere, two-time winners Atlético Madrid will face Alhama, while in-form Real Sociedad have been drawn against Deportivo La Coruña. As for Athletic Club, they will go up against second-tier CE Europa, who are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition based on their current league position. Impressively, Europa have already beaten one top-flight team this season, eliminating DUX Logroño on penalties in the third round earlier this month.
