L’Équipe understands that Olympique Lyonnais captain Corentin Tolisso (31) is set to extend his contract, albeit on less lucrative terms than he is currently on.
Sporting director Jean-Louis Leca said at the end of the Ligue 1 season that he expected Tolisso, whose current contract runs until the end of next season, to extend. That extension is now imminent, as per a report from L’Équipe.
It is excellent news for Lyon, who conserve their captain beyond the summer, but there is further good news for the cash-strapped club, as it is reported that the Frenchman will decrease his current salary. In order to remain with his formative club, the veteran midfielder has accepted a salary decrease. That is key, given that the DNCG – French football’s financial watchdog – are still monitoring OL’s salary bill, one year after they narrowly avoided administrative relegation to the second tier.
Tolisso’s new deal is set to run until 2029.
