In Wednesday’s matchday 4 contest, RB Brasil surprised Corinthians in Itaquera and ran out 2-0 winners.
The Campeonato Paulista match started slowly with few quality chances until the end.
In the 34th minute, Jádson played a ball over the ball and Mauro Boselli was able to cut back on RB Brasil centre back Ligger Moreira Malaquias. Goalkeeper Júlio César did well to save Boselli’s shot, though.
Ten minutes after half-time, winger Pio was fouled to set up a great chance for RB Brasil but Cássio Ramos kept his eye on the shot from just outside the box.
After playing well for 75 minutes, the Corinthians goalkeeper made a crucial error in his area.
RB Brasil’s Osman crossed from the right channel and then Roberson headed back into the middle. Cássio left his line to punch the ball but missed and Ytalo was able to score in the vacated net.
The home team pushed for a equaliser late but left themselves vulnerable on the break. Gustavo had a couple quality chances but Júlio César stood up to the challenge.
RB Brasil hit Timão on the break with a cross from the right side again deep in stoppage time.
As Pio sent in his cross, Cássio opted to stay put but could only watch Bruno Tubarão bury his header into the bottom corner in the fourth minute of added time.
The surprising result is RB Brasil’s first win of the Campeonato Paulista. They are now in third place of Group A on five points.
Corinthians find themselves with a losing record at the moment, with just four points from four matches so far. Timão currently sit in third place in Group C.
