Corinthians academy midfielder Yago Gonçalves announced by Portimonense Under-23s | OneFootball

Yago Gonçalves was announced on Friday by Portimonense's Under-23s, marking the Corinthians academy graduate's first move to Europe.

According to Meu Timao, he left Parque São Jorge in July and reached an agreement with Camboriú in Santa Catarina, though he made no official appearance. Corinthians retained 20% of his economic rights.

Gonçalves joined Corinthians in 2014 aged eight to play futsal, then progressed through every youth level. He debuted for the first team on 21 January 2024, a 1-0 win over Guarani at Neo Química Arena under Mano Menezes.

He made one further senior appearance but struggled for minutes, later rejoining some first-team sessions during Ramón Díaz's tenure. In 2025 he earned a starting role for the Under-20s before injuries disrupted his run.

A left knee meniscus issue kept him out of this year's Copinha. On his return he was used sparingly by coach William Batista, behind Caraguá, Bahia and Pedro Thomas.

He departs Corinthians with 80 matches, two goals and the 2023 Campeonato Paulista Under-17 title, won against Palmeiras. He described the move as a new challenge, expressing happiness, gratitude and hope for work, learning and achievements.
