On Monday Corinthians agreed a deal to appoint Emily Lima, 45, as coach of the women’s side after Lucas Piccinato was dismissed following a 2-2 draw with Fluminense at Neo Química Arena.
Lance! reports that she is due at Parque São Jorge on Tuesday to finalise terms, with a presentation later this week. The contract length is still being discussed, one or two years, and she is expected to take training on Wednesday.
Out of work since October 2025, she left Levante after 11 games that brought 10 defeats and one draw. She became the first Brazilian woman to coach in Spain’s women’s top flight.
She previously managed Juventus, São Caetano and Santos, and worked with the national teams of Brazil, Ecuador and Peru. Her only trophy is the 2018 Paulista with Santos over Corinthians.
She was one of several names considered, with Felipe Freitas opting to remain at Bahia and Marcelo Frigerio available after leaving Pumas in late 2025.
International call-ups will initially deplete her squad. Brazil had called up Lelê, Tamires, Thaís Ferreira, Duda Sampaio, Ana Vitória, Gabi Zanotti and Jaqueline, with Belén Aquino, Dayana Rodríguez and Gisela Robledo also away. Gi Fernandes has since withdrawn with a left thigh injury.
Injuries further rule out Thaís Regina, recovering from left ankle fibula surgery, Agustina Barroso, with a recurring left soleus issue, and Nicole Ramos, with a left shoulder problem. The team return on 13 March against Palmeiras at 21:30 at Arena Barueri.
