According to Meu Timao, Corinthians have opened talks to appoint Emily Lima as head coach of the women’s team.
Lima has been out of work since October 2025, when she left Levante after 11 matches, with 10 defeats and one draw. She departed by mutual consent, though she made history as the first Brazilian woman to manage a top-flight women’s side in Spain.
Before Europe, she coached Juventus, São Caetano and Santos, and managed Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. Her only trophy is the 2018 Campeonato Paulista, won against Corinthians.
Corinthians assessed several options and their enquiry for Lima has now progressed to negotiations. Other names considered include Felipe Freitas of Bahia and Marcelo Frigerio, a Brazilian former player born in Italy, currently a free agent.
Lima’s camp views the move positively and her free-agent status, with no release clause, helps given the cost of dismissing Lucas Piccinato. The Brabas have been without a permanent coach since early Saturday after a 2-2 draw with Fluminense at Neo Química Arena in the second round of the Brasileirão Feminino.
The gap before the next match eases immediate pressure, with Corinthians not playing again until 13 March, against Palmeiras at 21:30 at Arena Barueri, due to the FIFA window. With 11 players on international duty, training is overseen by Julia Passero, recently promoted from the Under-17s to lead the Under-20s.
