Corinthians aim to break Brasília hoodoo to clinch the Supercopa

Corinthians faces Flamengo this Sunday (01), at 4 PM (Brasília), in the grand final of the Supercopa Rei aiming to win the tournament's second championship. To claim the title, Timão will have to overcome the recent taboo in Brasília, specifically at the Estádio Mané Garrincha, where the team has struggled in recent years.

In the last three games in the federal capital, Corinthians lost twice and drew once, having been defeated by São Paulo 3-1 in 2024, drawn 0-0 against Portuguesa in the 2023 Paulistão, and lost to Fluminense 1-0 in the 2019 Brasileirão. Overall, at the Mané Garrincha stadium, Corinthians has played 15 matches, with six wins, four draws, and five losses, scoring 27 goals and conceding 18 at the venue of the grand final.

Timão's last victory at the stadium was in 2018, when Corinthians defeated Vasco 4-1 in the Brazilian Championship, a match marked by Ángel Romero's hat-trick. The top scorer for Timão at Mané Garrincha is the forward Luizão, who scored four goals, all in the same match against Gama in 1999, in a 4-2 victory in the Brasileirão.

Corinthians travels this Saturday (31), where they will stay focused for the clash against Flamengo, with Mané Garrincha expected to be packed with more than 74 buses of Timão's organized supporters heading to Brasília.
