Corinthians aim to end recent hoodoo against Bragantino

Corinthians faces Red Bull Bragantino in a match valid for the third round of the 2026 Brazilian Championship at the Neo Química Arena on Thursday night (12th) at 8:00 PM (Brasília time), aiming to break a recent taboo against the team from the interior.

Timão hasn’t beaten Bragantino since the opening match of the 2025 Paulistão, when they came from behind to win 2-1 with goals from Pedro Raul and Talles Magno. Since then, the teams have played three more matches, all won by Massa Bruta, who scored seven times in those encounters, while Corinthians found the net only twice.

The most recent match between the teams was in the 2026 Paulistão, when Corinthians suffered a resounding 3-0 defeat at the Estádio Cicero de Souza Marques, with two goals from John John and one from Mosquera. At that early stage of the season, Corinthians fielded a completely reserve squad, with Gabriel Paulista making his debut and the now almost-transferred defender Cacá playing out of position at right-back.

At the Neo Química Arena, Corinthians’ winless streak against Bragantino is even longer—they haven’t won in regular time since August 29, 2022, when the alvinegro won 1-0 with a goal from Gustavo Mosquito. Since then, there have been four matches at the Casa do Povo, with three Bragantino victories and one draw. It’s worth noting that in one of those wins for the interior team, a 2-1 result in regular time in the 2024 Copa Sudamericana, Timão advanced on penalties.
