According to Meu Timao, Corinthians are among Brazilian clubs with the fewest 2026 World Cup call-ups, with only Memphis Depay selected. The forward is the club’s sole representative at the tournament starting next week.
Depay will feature for the Netherlands in Group F against Japan, Sweden and Tunisia. Their opener is against Japan on 14 June at 17:00 Brasília time at AT&T Stadium, Arlington.
The Dutch then face Sweden on 20 June at 14:00 at NRG Stadium, Houston. They finish the group against Tunisia on 25 June at 20:00 at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City. All three fixtures are in the United States, though matches are also staged in Mexico and Canada.
Flamengo lead Brazilian clubs with nine players called up, followed by Palmeiras with seven, Atlético-MG with four, and Grêmio and Internacional with two each. Corinthians join Botafogo, Santos, São Paulo, Fluminense, Vasco da Gama, Athletico Paranaense and Red Bull Bragantino on one apiece.
Corinthians could have had a second call-up with Brazil, but goalkeeper Hugo Souza was omitted from Carlo Ancelotti’s squad despite appearing in almost all recent FIFA dates under Ancelotti. Across their history, the club have seen 25 players called to World Cups.
FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme will pay Corinthians 11,000 dollars per day Depay remains on international duty, about R$ 55.7 thousand. Group-stage participation already guarantees 132,000 dollars, roughly R$ 670 thousand, and the amount could reach R$ 2 million if the Dutch reach the final.
