Corinthians have confirmed that centre-back André Ramalho is back in partial training with the squad after almost a month sidelined by labyrinthitis. He is expected to be unavailable for Sunday’s game against Chapecoense at Neo Química Arena at 19:30 in the 26th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The 34-year-old last featured on 13 August, coming on in the final minute of the 0-0 draw at Rosario Central at Estádio Gigante de Arroyito in the first leg of the Libertadores round of 16. He then developed labyrinthitis and spent a few days in hospital on returning to São Paulo.

Recovered, he returned to the club’s training ground on 27 August for gym-based work, before being cleared to resume ball sessions with team-mates.

Corinthians will also be without goalkeeper Hugo Souza, defender Gabriel Paulista and midfielder Raniele, all suspended. Attacking midfielder Vitinho could be named in the squad, having begun his physical transition after surgery on the meniscus in his left knee and rejoined parts of training in recent days.

In midfield, André Luiz is recovering from a grade two right thigh muscle injury, while Zakaria Labyad is treating a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and a meniscus injury, ruling him out for the season. Up front, Kayke is also rehabbing a left-knee ACL rupture, and centre-forward Yuri Alberto has yet to shake off a problem in the back of his right thigh.

Timão have lost three league matches in a row and sit 10th on 32 points, with eight wins from 25 games. The first side in the relegation zone is Mirassol, seven points behind the Parque São Jorge club.
