Corinthians beat Fortaleza at home for third straight NBB win

On the afternoon of this Saturday (7), Corinthians hosted Fortaleza Basquete Cearense at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium for the 25th game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), and won by a score of 96 to 76. With this result, the Alvinegro achieved its third consecutive victory in the national competition and now occupies sixth place with 17 wins and eight losses – 42 points.

Coach Jece Leite started the following lineup for the match: Davaunta Thomas, Victão, Rafael Munford, Lucas Cauê, and Elinho. The bench options were: Cauê Borges, Tico Faria, Lucas Cardoso, Kaique, Kauan Raymundo, Jamelão, and Gabriel Novaes. The opponent started with: Da Silva, Salsamendi, Dupree, Alberton, and Gabriel.

Corinthians started the match performing better than Fortaleza, even opening up a 20-point lead. However, the opponent improved and cut down the Corinthians' advantage, which later recovered and finished the first quarter leading 26 to 19. In the second quarter, the opponents reduced the deficit to five points, winning the second quarter 18 to 16 – 42 to 37 for the Alvinegro on the scoreboard.

The second half/third quarter was decisive for Corinthians to secure the victory. The Parque São Jorge club won that period 28 to 18. In the fourth quarter, the Corinthians team managed the lead and won 26 to 21 – 96 to 76 in the final score. The top scorer for Timão in the match was Rafael Munford, who scored 22 points. Elinho recorded seven assists. Finally, Lucas Cauê had eight rebounds and eight points.

This was Corinthians' third consecutive win in the competition, as they had previously beaten Vasco da Gama and Botafogo, both away, by scores of 75 to 67 and 74 to 73, respectively. Now, Jece Leite's squad will return to the court next Monday (9), at 8:00 PM (Brasília time), for the 26th game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB).
