Corinthians beat Santo André to reach Paulista women's basketball final

On the night of this Monday (24), Corinthians faced AD Santo André at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium for the second match of the semifinals of the São Paulo Women's Basketball Championship and ended up winning with a score of 94 to 60. With this result, the Furiosas advance to the final after having already won the first game away from home by 78 to 58.

Coach Bruno Guidorizzi fielded the following team to start the match: Yasmin Gonçalves, Licinara, Alana Gonçalo, Thayná Silva, and Tássia Pereira. The bench had the following options: Jamile, Nazinha, Glenda, Jaqueline de Paula, and Julia Mansilha. In the first phase of the state championship, Alvinegro achieved six wins and two losses. In the realignment, there were three wins in three games – a 100% success rate.

Corinthians started the match dominating all actions against AD Santo André, especially in three-point shots, consequently building a comfortable lead on the scoreboard. The ABC Paulista team tried to make a comeback, but the Furiosas managed to open up a point advantage. In the second half, the match became more balanced with many physical contests. The main highlights for the Furiosas were Glenda and Licinara.

The Parque São Jorge club ended the second period leading by 43 to 34. In the third period, Corinthians further extended their lead with strong performances from Glenda, Licinara, and Thayná, opening up a 20-point advantage. In the fourth and final period, Corinthians managed the score, maintaining their superiority and nullifying the main actions of their rivals, with Julia Mansilha shining in the final stretch of the match – winning by 94 to 60.

In the grand final, Corinthians will face the winner of Unimed Campinas or Sesi Araraquara, in a title that will be decided in the best of five matches. The team with the better campaign at the end of the second phase will play two of the final games at home.
