Corinthians board consider delaying vote, public hearings on the table

On the evening of last Monday (24), Parque São Jorge was set to host the vote on the preliminary draft of the Corinthians statute reform. Unanimously, the councilors decided to postpone the decision and open ten public hearings to debate the sections until the beginning of next year.

After the decision, several councilors passed through the mixed zone at Parque São Jorge, praising the decision to postpone. Names such as Rubão, André Negão, Jorge Kalil, and Vinicius Cascone spoke, as well as Miguel Marques, president of the Advisory Council (Cori).

Miguel Marques even spoke about the presence of the council at the hearings. “There will always be someone from Cori at these meetings. Now, Cori, the statute provides that Cori may present. But not necessarily, right? The people from Cori have to guide. Obviously, somewhere. But it is not mandatory for a director to be pointing things out. What happens together with ethics, right? But overall, as I said in this meeting, it was positive“

The goal is for several people to participate in the hearings, which will be open to councilors, members, organized supporters, regular fans, and the press. The schedule for the debates was released last Tuesday (25) by the Deliberative Council.

What we need to know is what the requirements will be for the supporter member to vote, this is irreversible, there will be the vote of the loyal supporter, yes, and since it is a preliminary draft that contains 145 articles, more than 500 paragraphs, we couldn’t do this quickly, hastily, this has to be thought through, I think it was very positive.“

“Actually, I was one of the authors of the requests, but the Statute Reform Committee also submitted this request, which I saw with good eyes. Dr. Kalil and Dr. Felipe Ezabella also submitted requests in this sense, to broaden the debate. “

“Actually, my understanding is that the statute debate would be fundamental for us to open up, including to the fans, to the councilors, members, and anyone who is a Corinthians supporter and wants to debate. We cannot let Corinthians democracy be just a piece of propaganda, I always say that. Today, those who actually finance Corinthians are the fans themselves, who are our greatest asset“
