Corinthians close in on deal, Félix Torres set for loan to Internacional

Corinthians and Internacional have reached an agreement for the loan of defender Félix Torres. The 28-year-old Ecuadorian defender has agreed to play for the club from Rio Grande do Sul until the end of the 2026 season, according to information released by ge.globo.

The agreement between the parties includes a purchase option at the end of the loan, with the value already set but kept confidential. At the moment, the boards of Corinthians and Internacional are finalizing bureaucratic procedures and have already started exchanging documents to formalize the deal.

No longer in the plans of the coaching staff, Timão has been looking for interested clubs for Félix Torres since last year. The club’s intention is to reduce the payroll and open up space in the squad. The defender has a contract with Corinthians until the end of 2027.

Signed in 2024 from Santos Laguna, Mexico, Félix cost 6.5 million dollars — about R$ 31 million at the exchange rate at the time. The delay in payment generated a debt that resulted in a transfer ban imposed by FIFA, a punishment that remains in effect.

This Wednesday (7th), in fact, the Paulista club reached an agreement with the Mexican club to settle the debt. The agreement provides for the payment of US$ 6.2 million (R$ 33.4 million), a value lower than the approximately US$ 6.5 million (R$ 35 million) initially owed, after Santos Laguna waived part of the interest.

While working to finalize the Ecuadorian’s departure, Corinthians is also active in the market searching for a new reinforcement for the defensive sector. The club is in talks with Gabriel Paulista, 35, who is a free agent after terminating his contract with Besiktas, Turkey, and is expecting the player in São Paulo next Friday (9th) to advance negotiations.
