Corinthians and Renato Augusto have made progress in their negotiations in recent days, which could result in the midfielder’s move to Timão. The parties have already agreed on conditions, and the player was in Sao Paulo looking for a place to live at the end of last week.
Although the 33-year-old still has a contract, he is awaiting a decision from Beijing Guoan in China on whether or not his contract will be terminated next week.
Whatever happens with his contract will go on to determine whether or not Corinthians can progress further regarding a move.
The athlete contacted FIFA in the hopes of securing a release agreement until the 19th of this month because he was unable to return to China at the start of the year due to the current coronavirus pandemic. It has been a difficult past few months for the veteran, having to make do without pay for the previous five months.
As per multiple reports, the Corinthians board responded to recent claims about the player, saying: “There is nothing.” When it comes to dealing with the situation, the board, understandably, takes great care.
Flamengo, as well as Corinthians, have expressed interest in the player in the past. Renato Augusto, on the other hand, “did not advance,” according to vice-president Marcos Braz.
“Renato, who spent five seasons in China, wants to return to Brazil, and he could be Corinthians’ best bet this season. The Alvinegro team did not sign a contract in 2021, which is worth highlighting “.
Renato Augusto hasn’t appeared in a game since December 10th, 2020. Since then, he has been working out with a personal trainer in Rio de Janeiro and is in excellent clinical condition.
