Corinthians confirm Elcio Mendonça as new head of communication | OneFootball

Corinthians have confirmed the appointment of journalist Elcio Mendonça as the club’s new head of communication. He has already started work at Parque São Jorge.

The department had been without a permanent lead for almost two months after superintendent Vinicius Rodrigues left in July 2026 of his own accord, having accepted a new offer. He served 14 months and the area has operated on an interim basis since.

Mendonça brings nearly 20 years of football experience, with spells at RedeTV, TNT Sports and CazéTV. He also holds specialisations in management and sports marketing, and has worked at Santo André and Portuguesa as a communications officer, and at Náutico as communications manager.

His most recent stint came between January 2025 and May this year, when he returned to Portuguesa as communications manager. He contributed to the rebuild of the department’s communications during the club’s transition to the SAF model.

He is the fifth professional to lead Corinthians’ communications in recent years. Wagner Vilaron became the first superintendent after ex-president Augusto Melo’s 2024 election, succeeded by Josiane Ribeiro, then Tiago Maranhão in September 2024, who represented the club until Rodrigues arrived in May of last year.
