Corinthians have not abandoned a new contract for Fabrizio Angileri and are weighing a possible return to the table.
According to Meu Timao, there is still no agreement with the 31-year-old left-back, and discussions had been frozen.
On his arrival, football executive Marcelo Paz said negotiations were on hold and there were no active talks. He stressed the club would respect its financial limits and budget, noted there are two full-backs in the squad, and described Angileri as a quality player, but said conversations were not progressing at that time.
The shift stems from difficulty finding a left-back who meets the desired terms, either on loan or as a free agent. A return to Angileri may therefore be considered.
Corinthians had tried to extend since August 2024 without a breakthrough despite several rounds of talks, mainly due to finances. Angileri joined in February after terminating his contract with Getafe, Spain.
He delivered mixed performances, gained space under Dorival Júnior and was also used at centre-back. He made 42 appearances, 26 as a starter, with 20 wins, 10 draws and 12 defeats, plus two assists and two trophies, the Paulistão and the Copa do Brasil.
