Corinthians Copinha hero’s contract ends in March, future unclear

Corinthians' 1-0 victory over Trindade in the opening match of the São Paulo Cup this Saturday (3rd) had one hero: the forward Favela, the nickname chosen by the young Luiz Fábio, who has won the hearts of the Fiel since the squad list for the youth competition was announced. It was his goal that secured the three points for Timãozinho in the competition's debut, already in the final minutes of the match.

What few know, however, is that the athlete does not belong to Corinthians. Favela joined the club in March last year, on loan from Capivariano for a year, and for him to stay at Parque São Jorge after this period, the club needs to pay R$ 300,000 to acquire 50% of the economic rights. This information was initially reported by the portal Meu Timão.

His signing at the time was completed by Claudinei Alves, who managed the youth categories of Corinthians under the administration of former president Augusto Melo. During the last season, Favela played only 11 times for the Under-20, but scored his first goal this Saturday, against Trindade in the São Paulo Cup.

Due to his loan period, the young player will have the entire competition to prove himself and convince Timão to acquire his rights to stay at the club. However, there is also the possibility of the forward being included in Corinthians' List B for the Paulista Championship, whose first phase will be played between January and February.
