Memphis Depay’s stint at Corinthians has ended after the club chose not to renew his contract.

The deal expired on 31 July and the club confirmed the decision on Tuesday. In his first comments after leaving, Depay said he was very disappointed with the board.

Gaviões da Fiel president Alexandre Domenico, known as Alê, has promised a large wave of protests against those he says are harming the club.

He said a series of demonstrations would begin next week, focusing on leading figures at Parque São Jorge.

After months of internal deliberations, Corinthians have moved to release young forward Pedro Morelli, who was central to the club’s departure from the Movimento dos Clubes Formadores do Futebol Brasileiro, MCF.
