Corinthians face transfer window deadline with uncertainty

The transfer market for the international window closes this Tuesday (03), and Corinthians is still facing uncertainties and unresolved issues within the squad led by coach Dorival Jr, who seeks to balance his team amid departures, arrivals, and player issues in the Medical Department.

With the imminent arrivals of midfielder Lingard and goalkeeper João Ricardo, Timão will reach a total of nine reinforcements (including the late renewal of Angileri), but according to Dorival Jr himself, as stated in the press conference after the Novorizontino match, these are replacements, not signings: “We lost Martínez, we lost some other players who left from the Copa do Brasil to here, and we are replacing, not signing, we are replacing departures. So you can see there's a big difference. While our opponents sign to complete their squad, but with much quality, we are still replacing some pieces that left from one year to the next. There's a big difference.”

Besides the issues with arrivals, Dorival is also suffering due to recent injuries in the Corinthians squad, with the three main ones being midfielder Matheus Pereira and forwards Kaio César and the top scorer of the year so far, Yuri Alberto. It is worth noting that the Corinthians attack, especially at the start of the season, has struggled to find the net, with offensive players Gui Negão, Pedro Raul, Vitinho, Memphis Depay, and Kayke scoring only three times combined, while Yuri Alberto alone scored twice.

Another important point of uncertainty for Corinthians is the potential departure of midfielder André, who received an offer from Milan worth 15 million euros fixed and an additional 2 million euros in variables, a situation that irritated coach Dorival Jr during the press conference after the elimination against Novorizontino.

It is important to remember that the transfer window for registering players from foreign clubs closes this Tuesday (03), with pre-registration needing to be done by at least 7 PM, as the CBF's daily information bulletin (BID) only operates until this time. Subsequently, the domestic exception window will open for players who were registered within the state championships, meaning players who were left out of the state tournaments and were not registered cannot be included in this window, which ends on March 27. Players without a contract can be signed without any impediment during this period, provided they were already unattached during the window itself.
