Three Corinthians supporters were assaulted following their side’s 1-0 win over Bahia in the first leg of the Women’s Brasileiro semi-final at Arena Fonte Nova on Tuesday night in Salvador.

According to Bahia Notícias, witnesses said the victims were attacked by members of an organised Bahia supporters’ group during the visitors’ exit, suffering punches and kicks, as well as blows with helmets and traffic cones.

Officers from the second Independent Military Police Company, CIPM, were called to a disturbance near the stadium in the Nazaré area. They found one victim on the ground, who reported being attacked by a group of home fans, and Samu was called to provide medical care. Patrols were carried out in the vicinity, but no suspects were located.

The night also set a landmark for women’s football in Bahia, with 5,811 in attendance, including 5,578 paying spectators. It was the largest crowd recorded for a women’s match in the state, and the biggest of this edition of the Brasileiro Feminino.

The sides meet again on Monday 21 at 21:30 at Neo Química Arena for the second leg. Corinthians, the Brabas, need only a draw to reach the final.
