Corinthians lost 1-0 to Palmeiras at Arena Barueri on Wednesday, a derby defeat that dropped them out of the direct semi-final places in the Paulista Feminino.

The fifth-round reverse cost the Brabas two places. The goal came from a set piece, with goalkeeper Nicole Ramos pointing to a marking lapse.

"With such a packed schedule, having fewer matches before the semi-finals is very important. We are fighting to finish higher and consequently play fewer games. We lost the last two matches on small details, we suffered a block at a set piece and conceded."

The interview was carried by Rádio Coringão.

"These are situations we can adjust and that serve as learning. There were two blocks, against Ferroviária and now, and we need to take lessons from that and keep working. There is no magic formula, we always work to win."

This year brings a new format, with a single round-robin of seven rounds. The top two reach the semi-finals, teams third to sixth play a play-in, and the bottom two go to the Copa Paulista.

Corinthians sit fourth on seven points. Palmeiras are second with 10, São Paulo third with nine, and Ferroviária lead on 12.

Two rounds remain, with Timão at Mirassol on 12 August at Estádio Manoel Ferreira, then Taubaté at Fazendinha on a provisional 26 August. They now turn to Flamengo on Monday, three August at 18:30 at Estádio Luso-Brasileiro, in the 14th round of the Brasileirão Feminino.
