Corinthians in advanced talks for ex-Man United attacking midfielder

Corinthians is close to finalizing the signing of attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard, 33 years old. Talks between the parties have progressed, and the conclusion of the negotiation may happen soon. The information was initially reported by ESPN and confirmed by Central do Timão.

Currently without a club after leaving FC Seoul in South Korea, the Englishman emerged as a market opportunity and gained internal support due to his experience in European football, especially in the Premier League. The club is working to complete the bureaucratic procedures of the agreement. The financial terms have already been aligned, with only the formalization of the contract remaining, which would last until the end of 2026.

Lingard was developed by Manchester United and had his most prominent period between 2015 and 2020. In the 2015/16 season, he played alongside Dutchman Memphis Depay in 22 matches. Still in England, he also played for Birmingham, Derby County, West Ham United, Brighton, Leicester, and Nottingham Forest.

At 33, the attacking midfielder has spent two seasons in South Korean football. Recently, he was also rumored as a target for Remo, which competes in the Brazilian Championship Serie A, but negotiations with the club from Pará did not advance.

In his last season with Seoul FC, Jesse Lingard played in 41 matches, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 385 games, 77 goals scored, and 45 assists, totaling 122 goal contributions.
