Jesse Lingard landed at Guarulhos on Sunday morning to complete formalities ahead of a proposed deal with Corinthians to the end of 2026. He has been a free agent since leaving FC Seoul at the turn of the year.

According to Meu Timao, the 33-year-old signed a pre-contract on Saturday and will have a medical on Monday. If cleared, he would be the club’s seventh addition for 2026 and could reunite with Memphis Depay, his former Manchester United team-mate.

Lingard briefly addressed reporters on arrival. Greeted by Renan Bloise, Corinthians’ market analysis manager, he said he would speak about his choice in the coming days and acknowledged his excitement, adding a cheer for the club.

A Manchester United academy graduate, he made 235 appearances, 35 goals and 21 assists, winning four trophies. He has 32 England caps and featured at the 2018 World Cup.

He enjoyed his longest run at United between 2015 and 2020. He joined Nottingham Forest in 2022, then signed for FC Seoul in February 2024, registering 19 goals and 10 assists in 66 matches.

Corinthians have already added Gabriel Paulista, Pedro Milans, Matheus Pereira, Allan, Zakaria Labyad and Kaio César. They have also confirmed the return of left-back Fabrizio Angileri, and are awaiting medicals with Fortaleza goalkeeper João Ricardo this week.

Dorival Júnior’s side were knocked out by Novorizontino in the Paulistão semi-finals on Saturday. They next face Coritiba at 21:30 on 11 March at Neo Química Arena in the fifth round of the Brasileirão.
