Corinthians sign pre-contract with Jesse Lingard, arrival imminent

Attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard has signed a pre-contract with Corinthians and will arrive in Brazil this Sunday (01) to undergo medical exams. Without a contract since leaving FC Seoul, South Korea, at the end of last season, the Englishman will board a flight from London to São Paulo on Saturday night (28), according to information published by ge.

The medical exams are scheduled for Monday (02). If approved, the player may sign a definitive contract with the Parque São Jorge club. The agreement is expected to last until the end of 2026.

Since he is a free agent, the closing of the transfer window, set for Tuesday (03), does not prevent the player from being registered. Also according to ge, Lingard’s name was evaluated by Corinthians’ football department and received approval from coach Dorival Júnior to proceed with negotiations. The player was also offered to other teams in Brazil and abroad before the deal advanced with the alvinegro club.

A Manchester United academy graduate, Lingard spent about two decades at the English club, including both youth and senior squads. Throughout his career, he has also played for West Ham and Nottingham Forest, among other English teams.

The player has also made appearances for the England national team. He was part of the squad that played in the 2018 World Cup, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the tournament. His last call-up was in 2021.
