Corinthians have issued a fitness update on André Luiz, who is recovering from a grade two right hamstring injury and has not played since six August. The club said the 20-year-old has been working on the training pitch with physiotherapists, and no return date was given.

His last outing came in the Copa do Brasil defeat by Internacional at Neo Química Arena. He iced the area after the game due to discomfort, then missed Red Bull Bragantino three days later.

The expectation is that he will be available for the Libertadores quarter-finals against Estudiantes of Argentina, between nine and 16 September. This season he is Corinthians’ third-highest scorer with five goals, behind Gustavo Henrique on six and Yuri Alberto with eight.

Yuri Alberto has begun his physical transition and took part in partial sessions with the squad. If he progresses in the coming days, the number nine could feature against Santos.

Goalkeeper Hugo Souza, absent against Coritiba last Sunday, trained without restrictions at CT Joaquim Grava. Corinthians host Santos on Sunday at 16:00 at Neo Química Arena in the 25th round of the Brasileirão.
