Fernando Diniz believes Yuri Alberto and André Luiz should be back for Corinthians’ Libertadores quarter-final with Estudiantes, after a 1-0 win over Rosario Central sealed progress at Neo Química Arena.
According to Meu Timao, both missed the tie with muscle problems and share a grade 2 strain in the right hamstring. Yuri was injured on 30 July, André on 6 August, with typical recovery of three to eight weeks.
Diniz said there is slightly more certainty over Yuri as he was sidelined earlier, and noted the pair suffered similar injuries.
Raniele is suspended after his red card against Rosario Central. Allan, who served a red-card ban against the Argentines, will be available again.
The quarter-finals are slated for the weeks of 8 and 15 September. Corinthians will host the second leg after the better campaign, with the first at Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi, known as Uno.
Conmebol will confirm dates after next week’s Independiente del Valle v Tolima tie. The winners face Flamengo, and the victors from that would lie on Corinthians’ path if they reach the semi-finals.
Diniz said the short-term plan is the Brasileirão, prioritising recovery with less than 72 hours before their next match and a rare free midweek from the Copa do Brasil next week.
Corinthians sit ninth on 32 points, four behind fifth-placed Cruzeiro. They visit Coritiba at 19:30 on Sunday in round 24, then host Santos and Chapecoense before the quarter-finals.
