Corinthians beat Rosario Central at Neo Química Arena on Thursday night to reach the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals. The result kept their perfect record in knockout ties against clubs from Rosario.

They have faced Rosario Central twice and Newell's Old Boys once in such ties. According to Meu Timao, advancing also brought in $1.7 million, close to R$ 9 million.

The first meeting with Rosario Central came in the 2000 last 16. Corinthians lost the first leg 3-2 at the Gigante de Arroyito, then won 3-2 at the Pacaembu and took the shootout 4-3.

In 2023, they eliminated Newell's Old Boys in the Copa Sudamericana last 16. A 2-1 first-leg win in Itaquera, through Yuri Alberto and Wesley, preceded a 0-0 draw in Rosario to seal the aggregate.

The clubs crossed paths again in this year's last 16. A 0-0 in Rosario was followed by a 1-0 home win, secured by Breno Bidon, with Corinthians playing part of the second half with a player fewer.

Next up are Estudiantes in the quarter-finals, the first leg at the Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi and the return at the Neo Química Arena thanks to Corinthians' superior previous-round campaign. Before that, they visit Coritiba on Sunday at 19:30 at the Couto Pereira in the Campeonato Brasileiro, round 24.
