Corinthians let 29 Under-20 players seek new clubs

Corinthians continues to carry out an intense overhaul of its youth categories, especially after the early elimination from the 2026 São Paulo Junior Football Cup. The club has released 29 players from the Under-20 category to seek new opportunities. The information was initially reported by Itatiaia in partnership with the Base Corinthiana profile and confirmed by Central do Timão.

The list of players consists of athletes born between 2005 and 2008, who will train separately until they find new clubs. The decision was made by Under-20 coach William Batista, together with the youth department's management, which includes executive Erasmo Damiani and statutory director Carlos Roberto Auricchio (Nenê do Posto). Previously, the category consisted of 61 players, and now, as reported by Central do Timão, it has 32 players.

The players who are no longer in the club's plans will train separately with Zé Augusto, a well-known figure in Corinthians' youth categories who also served as interim head coach of the senior team in 2007. If any of them stand out, they may be reintegrated into coach William Batista's squad later on.

All athletes born in 2005 who were part of the Under-20 squad up to the last Copinha are no longer in the plans: center-back Fernando Vera, right-back Gabriel Caipira, defensive midfielder Thomas Lisboa, and forward Léo Agostinho. In addition, center-back Thierry and right-back Guilherme Martins, also born in 2005, are not included in the club's plans. All of them have contracts expiring in 2026.

Among the 29 names on the list, some are recovering from injury: right-backs Guilherme Martins (2005, fracture in the fifth metatarsal of the left foot), Gabriel Caipira (2005, physical transition), Ygor Lessa (2008, surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee), and forward Felipe Romio (2007, left anterior cruciate ligament). Therefore, they are not expected to leave the club yet, as they are still in the medical department.

Regarding these athletes, the Corinthians management's idea is to loan them out or, eventually, terminate their contracts while retaining a percentage of their economic rights.

Thierry close to termination

According to information published by Meu Timão, the center-back is close to terminating his contract with the club from Parque São Jorge. He was part of the squad that won the 2024 Copinha, but did not play. The player has not played for Timãozinho for a year and a half and, in this case, the club will not retain any percentage of his economic rights.

According to the portal, the player has received inquiries from teams in Brazil and Portugal, but is waiting for a contract termination with Corinthians to move forward with any potential negotiations. His contract with the club ends on March 1, 2026.
