Marcelo Paz hails Fiel’s warm welcome in Santos ahead of Paulista derby

The arrival of Corinthians in Santos was marked by a large mobilization of the black-and-white fans. On the night of this Wednesday (21), hundreds of Corinthians supporters gathered in front of the hotel where the team is staying to support the team before the classic match against Santos, for the Paulista Championship.

The team was welcomed with chants, fireworks, and the presence of entire families, in a show of support even without the possibility of the fans attending the match at Vila Belmiro. The gathering drew attention due to the number of fans and the closeness created between players and the improvised stands at the hotel entrance.

In an exclusive interview with Central do Timão, Corinthians' football executive Marcelo Paz commented on the reception by the Fiel and highlighted the importance of this direct contact between fans and the team in decisive moments of the season.

“It gives you goosebumps, right? A warm welcome. The players were at dinner and when we mentioned it, they promptly came down. Maintaining this contact with the fans is fundamental, right? Because it’s this synergy between the fans and the team that helps us win games, win championships. Since they can't go to the stadium tomorrow, they came to give all this support here at the hotel, a crowd, families, children, women, noise, fireworks, it's really nice to experience this. For me, it's the first time being so close to the crowd, so I’ll keep it in my heart. Go, Corinthians!”, said Marcelo.

The reception took place on the eve of the match valid for the fourth round of the Paulistão. Corinthians faces Santos this Thursday (22), at 7:30 PM (Brasília time), at Vila Belmiro, in search of their second victory in the state competition.
