Corinthians members seek ethics probe into lifetime councillors over suspended statute vote | OneFootball

Corinthians associates have asked the Comissão de Ética & Disciplina (CE) to probe three lifetime councillors over attempts to block a statute reform vote.

According to Meu Timao, lawyers and members Adeildo Heliodoro dos Santos and Wendell Heliodoro dos Santos filed the proposal, alleging Ademir de Carvalho Benedito, Alexandre Husni and Guilherme Gonçalves Strenger went to court to stop the Assembleia Geral, which the TJ-SP suspended on Friday.

The pair seek to individualise responsibility in a petition to Leonardo Pantaleão, head of the Ethics body, arguing damage to Corinthians' institutional image under Article 24 that could lead to expulsion under Article 28, item E.

They cited Romeu Tuma Júnior’s surprise at the appeals, and contend that items passed by the Conselho Deliberativo plenary did not prevent holding the Assembleia Geral.

They say a lawsuit is not in itself a statutory breach, but argue the dispute now affects the functioning of Corinthians' statutory organs, which they see as grounds to open an inquiry.

Pantaleão will gather evidence before deciding on disciplinary proceedings, while a precautionary suspension of the trio is also being weighed.

The councillors have fought the reform and Pantaleão, vice-president of the CD who chaired the approval meeting. Last week they lost a bid as the Assembleia Geral was cleared to put 11 items to members. The reform has been debated since last year, and the Statute was last revised in 2008.
