The São Paulo side lead Group E with six points, ahead of Platense on three, with Peñarol and Santa Fe on one.

Flamengo beat Cusco 2-0 in their opener, then beat Independiente Medellín 4-1 to top Group A. In the overall ranking that sets home advantage from the quarter-finals, they are first, followed by Boca Juniors and Corinthians, all on six points, with goal differences of six, five and four.

Two other teams also have 100% records. LDU of Ecuador lead Group G, which includes Mirassol, and Independiente Rivadavia of Argentina top Group C, which also features Fluminense.

Among Brazil’s other entrants, Cruzeiro have one win and one defeat and sit third in Group D. Palmeiras have a draw and a win and lead Group F. Fluminense are bottom of Group C on one point, while Mirassol have one win and one defeat and are second in Group G.

Corinthians host Peñarol on Thursday 30 April at 21:00 at Neo Química Arena. A win could put their last-16 qualification on track before the group stage reaches its halfway point.
