Corinthians outline plan to clear image-rights arrears and soften transfer bans | OneFootball

Corinthians are prioritising clearing overdue squad payments amid debt above R$ 2 billion. They currently face three bans, two from FIFA and one from the CNRD of the CBF.

According to Meu Timao, the board aim to pay image-rights arrears due on 20 June today, then clear the 20 July tranche next week. The focus is settling players’ dues before tackling debts that could lift the bans.

First team CLT salaries were late in the past two months, with April and May paid after the due dates. Other CLT staff were on time, though PJ contractors in May were paid on 15 June, and academy allowances were delayed the next month.

A short-term outlay is a US$225,000 fine, about R$ 1.16 million, for non-compliance in cases involving Philadelphia Union, Midtjylland and New York City FC. Funding is to be covered by part of the Fatal Fans sponsorship. Even if paid, two other sanctions would remain in force.

The latest ban came from the CNRD after a missed fifth instalment under a creditors’ agreement, about R$ 8 million due last Friday.

The agreement totalled about R$ 76 million in quarterly instalments, with four paid so far at roughly R$ 28 million. On 21 May, FIFA imposed another ban over about R$ 7.7 million owed to Philadelphia Union, blocking registrations for three windows.

Brazil’s transfer window opened on Monday. Until debts are settled and the CBF sanction is suspended, Corinthians cannot register new players.
