Corinthians release two more from youth ranks, total exits now 39

This Friday, Corinthians officially released two more athletes from the club's main youth categories. Defensive midfielder Caio Lisboa, from the U-17, and midfielder João Gabriel, from the U-20, were the latest to leave Timão. These departures add to the list of dismissals that have occurred throughout the season in the lower categories.

The contract terminations for both players appeared in the CBF’s Daily Information Bulletin (BID) this Friday. With this, the club publicly confirmed the release of the young players, who were part of the club’s youth development system.

Caio Lisboa joined Corinthians in 2024, but only gained more playing time in 2025. He started the season being used by then-coach Raphael Laruccia, even starting in some matches. However, he lost his place as the competitions went on, especially after players from the U-20 were moved down to his category.

João Gabriel, on the other hand, did not get to play for the U-20. The midfielder trained mostly with the now-defunct U-18, which months later was renamed U-20 B. Without opportunities in official matches, the player leaves Timãozinho without having played any games for the club.

With these two releases, Corinthians reaches 39 departures between the U-17 and U-20 since Carlos Auricchio, known as Nenê do Posto, took over the youth department under Osmar Stabile’s management. Weeks ago, the director also dismissed another 17 employees. Counting from the youngest categories, the total number exceeds 80 departures.

In addition to changes in personnel, Corinthians has also altered logistical aspects since the start of the current management. Aiming to save around R$ 1.8 million per year, the club decided to close the “Athlete’s House” at the turn of this year, changing the accommodation structure for the youth categories.
