Corinthians striker on her celebration, targets Women's Libertadores

Corinthians effortlessly defeated Juventude last Wednesday afternoon, 17th, in the Women's Brazil Cup. One of the top scorers of the day was Ariel Godoi, who dedicated the goal to her daughter she has been expecting since last month. After the match, in the mixed zone, she talked about the celebration.

"Today I had a different feeling. So, before leaving home, I told her (wife): 'The goal is coming out today'. So, it was the title for her, a goal for her, and may more things come for her", commented the forward, who hopes to be part of the squad that will compete in the Libertadores in October.

"I push myself a lot, I have been training a lot to be able to score again. I believe that things happen when they have to happen. It was very important for me to score now, before the start of the Libertadores, to gain confidence, because we know that the sequence now until the end of the year is heavy", she said.

"It's my first Libertadores, I believe. I have high expectations and, if I go, I want to enjoy it a lot, because I know how important it is. I think everyone, those who go, those who don't go too, will be cheering for us", she added.

After being champions with over 40,000 fans last Sunday, the Brabas played with a low audience at Alfredo Schürig against Juventude. For Ariel, there is an understanding of the squad, mainly due to the time set by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

"We know that the schedule is a bit complicated. Sometimes, the time does not match with the fans' work schedule. We understand, but we can't cling to that, try to play the game regardless of having fans or not. We really wanted them to be here, but we also understand that it couldn't be", she said.

The next game for the Brabas takes place next Saturday, the 20th, for the ninth round of the Women's Paulistão. Corinthians faces Santos at Fazendinha, starting at 11am (Brasília time), and tickets are already on sale.
