Three Corinthians players, Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho and Breno Bidon, have been named in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for upcoming friendlies.

According to Meu Timao, the trio spoke of their pride at the call. Hugo is the only one with senior involvement, having been included in six of Ancelotti’s squads but missing the World Cup. He started once, a 3-2 defeat to Japan in October last year.

Breno Bidon will make his senior debut. The midfielder was a regular for the under-20s and helped win the South American Under-20 Championship in January and February 2025. He wears the number seven.

Matheuzinho has also earned a first senior call-up. The right-back featured in under-20 friendlies in 2018 with Londrina and wears number two. He said he will keep working at Corinthians to push for further selections.

With three names, Corinthians have the most players in the squad. Flamengo follow with two, while Coritiba, Cruzeiro, Botafogo, Santos and Athletico have one each.

Brazil face Australia on 25 and 29 September at 7h, at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. They then travel to India for the first time to face the hosts at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium on 3 October at 11h.

Before joining up, the trio remain on club duty tonight as Corinthians visit Estudiantes in the Copa Libertadores quarter-final first leg at 21h30 at Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi in La Plata.
