Corinthians VP grilled by prosecutors over alleged material theft

Armando Mendonça, vice president of Corinthians and mentioned in the case of the disappearance of sports equipment supplied by Nike to the club, gave testimony to the São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office (MPSP).

The internal audit, conducted by technology director Marcelo Munhões and requested by president Osmar Stabile – who also gave testimony, is being investigated by the 6th Police Station for the Repression of Sports Intolerance Crimes (DRADE).

The audit was conducted between September and October 2025, covering the entire flow of Nike materials in its training centers and administrative facilities. It was also stated that the resulting report was delivered to the CD Presidency for analysis. He argued, finally, that the measure reinforces the club's internal control mechanisms.

The report, obtained by Central do Timão, mentions Armando Mendonça on 17 occasions, more than president Osmar Stabile. In addition, the vice president presented himself as responsible for managing the sports equipment, whether at the social club or the training center.

Between June 6 and October 30, the vice president withdrew 131 items registered in the system. These included 100 shirts, nine jackets, nine pants, six pairs of sneakers, four shorts, two suitcases, and one backpack. Other items were also withdrawn without formalization, such as special shirts from the NFL partnership line.

Another point under investigation concerns the receipt of about R$ 5 million in Nike materials at the Joaquim Grava Training Center, at the beginning of May, without the invoices being entered into the club's management system, a fact that makes internal tracking of the items difficult and exposes the club to fiscal and tax risks. Central do Timão had also previously revealed the report of irregular sale of official uniforms by a Corinthians employee within the Parque São Jorge facilities.
