Corinthians are waiting on a reply from Talleres as they seek to settle the Rodrigo Garro debt and avoid another transfer ban. According to Meu Timao, talks have advanced and the club awaits a response.

In recent weeks, president Osmar Stabile travelled to Argentina to meet his Talleres counterpart Andrés Fassi over a bill of about R$ 32 million, taxes included. The board view the renewed dialogue positively after initial resistance linked to Fassi's strained relationship with former president Augusto Melo.

Corinthians are prioritising this case before progressing talks involving Memphis Depay. The club also owe close to R$ 40 million to their number 10 for signing-on fees and bonuses already due, and payment has not yet been made.

The player understands the situation and is aligned on finding a solution, with talks to run through his representatives. His contract, signed in September 2024, includes signing-on fees, performance bonuses, wages and image rights.

Part of his earnings had been covered by main sponsor Esportes da Sorte, money earmarked for a high-profile signing. After that deal was renewed, the incentive was dropped, leaving Corinthians to manage the funds and pay his full salary.

Memphis's future will also come into focus in the coming months, with his deal running to 20 June, meaning he can already sign a pre-contract with any club and leave for free at the end. He has said he wants to stay and is waiting for the club to open renewal talks. Football executive Marcelo Paz said the ideal scenario would be to secure a new deal before the World Cup, when the number 10 could represent the Netherlands in June and July 2026.
