Tite has left Cruzeiro after a 3-3 draw with Vasco on Sunday, the 15th. The departure follows a poor start to the Brasileiro and a recent defeat to Flamengo.

According to Coluna Do Fla, ex-Flamengo coach Filipe Luís is the board’s preferred option to replace Tite and the club plan to try to convince him to take charge.

The hierarchy are turning to executive director Bruno Spindel, viewed as a key figure in the talks, having spent years at Flamengo and knowing the coach well.

Filipe Luís has already worked with several players in the current Cruzeiro squad, including goalkeeper Matheus Cunha and midfielder Gerson.

He was dismissed by Flamengo on 3 March after an 8-0 win over Madureira, a decision taken by president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, and communicated by José Boto. That ended his spell at 101 matches with 63 victories.

For now, Filipe Luís is taking a cautious approach to his next step. He is in no rush to return to Brazilian football, prioritising the chance to start a project in Europe and awaiting potential offers.
