According to Coluna Do Fla, Cruzeiro’s new signing Lucho Rodríguez has struck an optimistic tone before the Libertadores round of 16 against Flamengo. He described the clash as an early final and said the team must take responsibility to try to progress against a very strong side.

The first leg is on Wednesday 12 at 21:30 at the Mineirão. The return is on 19 August at the same time at the Maracanã, and the aggregate winner advances to the quarter-finals.

Cruzeiro will have fresh options for the tie. Besides Rodríguez, forwards João Costa and Wesley have been listed on the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário, BID. The trio could make their debuts on Sunday 9 against Mirassol at 11:00, Brasília time, in the Brasileirão.

Flamengo are in a contrasting position on recruitment. They have not completed any signings so far, and Luiz Henrique remains the prime target, but there will be no final decision before the registration deadline for the round of 16.

Before meeting Cruzeiro, Flamengo host Vitória on Sunday 9 at 19:30, Brasília time, at the Maracanã in the Brasileirão.
