Crystal Palace have turned their attention to Udinese defender Oumar Solet after Joel Ordonez failed a medical. According to L'Équipe, a bid between €25m and €30m is expected shortly.
Seeking another centre-back after adding Takehiro Tomiyasu and Axel Disasi earlier in the window, Palace had been close to finalising a deal with Club Bruges for the Ecuador international. A metatarsal problem sustained at the World Cup scuppered the move.
Solet, 26, is under contract at Udinese until June 2027, with an option for a further year. The former Lyon defender fits the profile targeted by the Premier League club.
He was among the Italian top flight's standout centre-backs last season, and Inter Milan pursued him for much of this summer.
Since the start of the campaign, he has played two matches for Udinese, one in the league and one in the Italian Cup.
If an agreement is reached, his arrival would underline Palace's recent leaning towards French defensive options, including Lacroix and Canvot.
