Cameron Archer's winning goal keeps Southampton in the automatic promotion hunt with three matches remaining. The on-loan Cyle Larin appears to have taken him under his wing, an influence arguably as valuable as the Canadian's own six goals.

Larin joined from RCD Mallorca in the January window and fitted in quickly on the south coast. A surprise replacement for top scorer Adam Armstrong, he made an immediate impact, coming off the bench against Watford to head in a James Bree corner in front of the Northam End.

His maturity shows in tireless running of the channels, secure hold-up play and diligent defensive work, qualities that stretch his value beyond goals. Off the pitch, he is regarded as a family man and a superb example to younger team-mates, with Archer a clear beneficiary.

“Cyle brings so much experience. He's a proper grown man who came into the dressing room and fits right in.” He told the Daily Echo after the comeback win over Swansea City on Saturday.

“I've rarely ever seen somebody with that much experience and that much presence on the pitch, combined with so much humility off the pitch.”

While a permanent move may not follow, Larin's contribution to the club's 19-match unbeaten run cannot be overstated.
