Having taken just a point from their opening two fixtures, Czechia must win to remain in contention for progress to the knockout rounds. With Mexico already assured of a place in the Round of 32, Czechia will hope to take advantage of El Tri’s relaxed position.
Improvement must be made on their fortunes so far, having blown leads to drop points in both 2026 World Cup games to date.
Despite the disappointment of a winless campaign to date, Czechia are expected to stick with the bulk of the group that faced South Korea and South Africa.
David Jurasek remains unavailable after a thigh issue picked up in training ended his tournament prematurely.
Czechia will demand more from key forward Patrik Schick, who won the Silver Boot at Euro 2020 and netted four goals during 2026 World Cup qualification. He is yet to open his account at the World Cup this summer.
Possible Czechia starting XI: Kovar; Holes, Hranac, Krejci; Coufal, Darida, Cerv, Sadilek, Sojka; Schick, Hlozek.
Thursday 25th June 2026, at 2am BST.
The match will be available on BBC One in the UK.
