The modern professional football career is often over in a flash. Some players move clubs almost every year, leaving a fleeting impact before moving on in search of something new. But there are occasionally different stories. Less flashy but marked by a tenacity that sometimes seems almost out of step with the times. Linda Dallmann is one such figure. The fact that FC Bayern Women have renewed the midfielder’s contract until 2027 is therefore far more than a mere contract extension. It is also a statement of intent and an indication of how the club sees itself – as a club that not only signs key players, but keeps them.
Dallmann’s career did not begin in Munich, but in the Ruhr region. In Dinslaken, a girl grew up who would never be among the tallest – she stands at 1.58 metres as an adult. On the pitch, however, she was one of the most talented players from the very start, even though some believed her height was not enough for the big stage. One name accompanied her childhood from the very start: Giovane Élber. The former Bayern striker, who scored goals in the 1990s as if it were routine, became the focal point of her childhood dream of one day playing for the club from the Bavarian capital.
The fact that this dream did not come true overnight is just as much a part of her story. Her path initially took her via STV Hünxe, PSV Wesel-Lackhausen and the youth team of FCR Duisburg. By 2011, Dallmann had already made her debut for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. She ultimately spent the formative period of her early career at Essen between 2011 and 2019. For eight seasons, she was more than just part of the squad there. She became the driving force, the leader and a constant presence all at once. It was there, if not before, that the profile which still defines her today took shape – technical ability in tight spaces, an almost radar-like awareness of gaps, and the tireless courage to open up games with a single idea, sometimes even deciding them.
When Dallmann joined Bayern in 2019, the childhood dream that had once begun on the local pitch in Dinslaken came true. From the club’s perspective, this was not a gamble on a young player, but a signing with a clear vision. With her, Bayern were gaining a player who had been shaped in the Essen youth academy and who, by that point, was already far more than just an attacking talent. In fact, she was a senior Germany international.
Her first Bundesliga match in a Bayern shirt was a perfect illustration of this. Dallmann scored twice in a 3-1 win away at Freiburg, and it seemed as though she needed no time to settle in. And that is exactly how it turned out. By the end of her debut season, she had racked up 10 goals and 12 assists in the Bundesliga alone.
Since then, she has become something of an institution in Munich football. She has played more competitive matches for Bayern than any other player in the current squad (193) and has also won four Bundesliga titles, one DFB Cup and two Supercups. Yet the very thing that so often dominates the world of football – the world of statistics – holds little sway over her.
To understand Dallmann, you have to look at the side of her game that isn’t reflected in the stats. She is not a classic number 10, not a pure winger, not a striker, and yet she is a bit of all of these. Above all, however, she is someone who reads the game before others do. A quick cut-back, a turn, a pass to open up opposition’s defence. Much of it seems unspectacular at first glance, but it has an enormous impact. Dallmann gives structure to attacks without holding onto the ball for long. She shifts opponents with feints, opens up space, accelerates with a single touch. It is the kind of influence that has been crucial to the functioning of Bayern’s system for years.
So it stands to reason that her relationship with Munich has grown beyond the purely sporting sphere. When Dallmann talks about the city today, it doesn’t sound like just another stop on her career path. She speaks of the nature, the mountains, the special atmosphere: “Munich has become my second home,” she stated. It is one of those statements that says a great deal about her connection to the place. Home, in her case, is not just a postcode. It is the people at the club, a community that has grown over the years.
Ultimately, this contract renewal says just as much about Bayern as it does about the player herself. The club firmly believes in consistency in key roles. And a key player has made a conscious decision to remain part of this project in Munich. “I’ve been at the club for a long time and am proud to be part of something big,” said Dallmann upon signing her new deal.

The shared history between her and Bayern is not built on a single iconic moment. Rather, it has grown over the years. The fact that this journey, which has been a dream for the 31-year-old since childhood, is now continuing is also a confirmation of the club’s philosophy that titles are not just to be won but shaped by defining figures like her.
