Benfica have high expectations for Claudio Echeverri, their latest addition of this window.

The Argentine has arrived at the Estádio da Luz on loan from Manchester City, and the club hold an option to buy set at €21 million.

Daniel Brizuela of River Plate offered high praise. "He is a game-winning talent, a mix of Maradona and Messi. He must play without shackles. Like that, he is very hard to control," he said, speaking to O Jogo.

Last season Echeverri was loaned by Manchester City to Bayer Leverkusen, where he made 11 appearances, before moving to Girona, for whom he featured in 16 matches.

His time at the Luz is seen as an opportunity to regain prominence after a campaign split between two clubs.
