Daniel Farke has confirmed a serious hamstring injury for Joe Rodon, ruling the centre-back out for eight to 10 weeks ahead of Saturday’s visit to Brighton.
Rodon pulled up midway through the first half against Brentford and was substituted. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Farke said on Thursday the Wales defender will not play again before the next international break.
Farke added that new arrivals Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya are eligible this weekend and could make the squad depending on the coming days. Both joined on deadline day on loan deals with options to buy, Bard from Nice and Bahoya from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the latter’s move finalised at 12.45am on Wednesday.
Gabi Gudmundsson, the first-choice left back, is also available. He missed much of pre-season with a hamstring issue sustained against Liverpool in America, and after a full training week Farke will take a late decision on his involvement.
Midfielder Ilia Gruev has recently returned to training following an April meniscus knee injury and was not involved against Brentford.
